Cross Training Equipment

Cross Training is a universal form of exercise. The award-winning outdoor training stations have an open design and allow Australians to complete functional exercises with the support of suspension trainers, pull-up bars, free weights and parallel bars. Central to the outdoor workout stations is the scalability of the resistance, allowing users of all ages and abilities to train in accordance with their fitness levels.

The different multifunction outdoor gym stations can stand alone or be placed as joined structures, which are ideal for group training and is a key motivator to encourage communities to come together to exercise in the great outdoors.

In 2017, the KOMPAN Cross Training Systems won the Good Design Award in Australia and the European Product Design Award.

Benefits of functional fitness training

1. Inclusive for all fitness abilities

Functional fitness is a diverse way of training that caters to someone’s individual fitness level. It’s a highly adaptable way to exercise, as users can alter the difficulty of their exercises as they progress. When using a KOMPAN multifunction outdoor gym station, users can perform a wide range of movements at varying difficulty levels. If they are just starting, the user may choose an exercise position that is easier for them. The next time they work out, they may undertake the same exercise in an alternate position to build up the intensity. That’s the beauty of functional fitness – while the equipment remains the same, the user controls how challenging their workout is.

2. Reduced risk of injury

When an exercise is too challenging, it stresses joints and muscle groups. This can leave users susceptible to injury. However, the adaptable nature of outdoor functional training stations allows users to change their workout intensity to fit how they feel that day. For example, if someone’s upper body muscle groups feel sore, they can lower the challenge of the exercise and use an outdoor training station for recovery instead. Functional fitness means users can access the equipment in whichever way suits them best, helping to reduce the risk of injury.

3. Improve Functional Movements

Functional movements and functional strength are aspects of fitness people use day-to-day. Most conventional weightlifting exercises do not feature functional movements, meaning that while specific muscle groups may improve, the user’s general strength and fitness remains the same. An outdoor functional training station encourages users to perform variations of movements they do every day, but with different intensity levels to improve overall strength and endurance.

Frequently asked questions about Cross Training Outdoor Workout Stations

How weather resistant is the equipment, and can I train in any conditions?

KOMPAN's outdoor Cross Training stations are incredibly durable and manufactured from robust materials. This means the fitness equipment can be placed in almost any environment.

Do I need instructions on how to get the most out of the equipment?

No, it is very intuitive; however, guidance from the KOMPAN Fitness App can help you get started on the equipment and provide some pre-designed workouts for your session.

What are the benefits of an open-air workout session?

Working out with KOMPAN outdoor training stations outside helps clear your lungs. No amount of filtering can clean the atmosphere indoors to replicate fresh air. Indoor air often has a suboptimal balance of oxygen, nitrogen, and carbon dioxide, especially in enclosed rooms with little or poor ventilation. Of course, the positioning of the outdoor features is paramount to creating the perfect result. That opens the debate about which is better, sea air or mountain air. Mountain air contains less oxygen than air at lower altitudes, so breathing it causes the heart to beat faster and the body to burn more energy. Many studies have found that athletes training at high altitudes tend to lose weight. But sea air is also quite beneficial. The bracing climate by the sea is good for the respiratory organs and the skin but also improves circulation and strengthens the body's immune defences.

What is a magnetic bell, and how does it work?

The Magnetic Bell comes in three weights: 6, 9 and 12 kilos. It moves freely up and down an aluminium post. The inner core contains magnets that create resistance, so the faster you move, the greater the resistance. Users can complete many exercise routines with this unique feature, such as weighted squats, lunges, push presses, calf raises and bent-over rows.

What happens if you drop the bell?

When a Magnetic Bell is dropped at an outdoor functional training station, it accelerates but is then slowed through the resistance created by magnets.

What colour options are available for KOMAN's outdoor fitness training stations?

KOMPAN has eight standard colours, but we offer the opportunity to customise the equipment to match your project vision.

What is the target group for the outdoor workout stations?

Our Cross Training systems have been specifically designed for a universal audience. From beginners who are starting out to elite athletes, users of all abilities, backgrounds and fitness levels can use the stations.

Do KOMPAN's Cross Training outdoor fitness stations enable social interaction?

Our Cross Training systems are designed to enable people to train side-by-side. For trainers, this means a fast overview, enabling them to offer support and guidance where needed. Additionally, our sites are installed with breakout facilities for rest periods and social interaction.

Can Cross Training fitness stations be used for professional purposes?

Our Cross Training solutions are designed to provide therapists and other health specialists with access to equipment that is comparable to commercial indoor gym equipment.
