Montrose Foreshore Community Park has been transformed into an ‘all abilities playground’ by the Glenorchy City Council and at the same time has also become one of Tasmania’s favourite playgrounds.

Stage one was completed in 2006 with the addition of a Corocord 3650 spacenet, which has been well received by the Glenorchy community. On the weekends the net is covered in children playing, climbing, jumping or just sitting in one of the rubber seats looking out to the water. The children can always find a hand-hold in the regularly arranged mesh taking away any sense of fear. The individual ropes in the rope net are flexibly anchored, and break a possible fall.

The Vega and Spica from Kompan’s Galaxy range have also been added to this colourful play area to create a challenging activity for the 6-12 year olds. These rotating pieces of equipment add to the buzzing atmosphere of the playground and its brightly coloured rubber surface. The Moments grasshopper is used for active play with games such as leap-frog but also as seating for those who’s head is still spinning from the spica’s!

Stage one has been designed for the older children with stage two to cater for the 2-6 year olds. Work will commence in June 2007 with the installation of some equipment from Kompan’s Elements range. Stage two will include pieces such as the exerciser, speeder, hopper and racer all of which are accessible to all children, including those with special abilities and needs. The ‘South’s’ favourite park is about to get even better!!
