Paddington Gates, Centennial Park, Sydney.

This site is full of colour and nature, with 2 play areas for different ages.  Many of the items are four years old, and recently renovated, and holding up very well.   Meandering pathways and rubber softfall provide access for children with various abilities.  Many of the items include added support for younger or less able children, and the products still encourage all users regardless of their ability to come give it a go!

One of the highlights for younger children is the water tap next to a sandstone trough.  Younger children really need this type of opportunity, which helps them develop their creative side and their fine motor skills.

Fiona Robbe – Landscape Architect.  The mature trees and natural setting create a feeling of being far away from the city.  Traffic noise is minimized by a large wall nearby.  Fencing in the larger play area helps keep the runners inside where the caregivers can spot them, so the adults can spend more time socializing with friends.  The hardest part is when it is time to leave.
