Play Rights Read more :
The UN convention’s article 31 states that every child has a right to rest and leisure to engage in play and recreational activities appropriate to the age of the child. We know that play is an essential part of child development, that free play out doors promote children’s motor skills and their emotional, social, cognitive and creative development. Through free play in the outdoor play area children learn about their own and others’ abilities, possibilities and limitations.
It Is KOMPAN’s belief that the right to play can be manifested among others through well equipped, age appropriate play areas. The sense of belonging is a basic human need and the condition for ownership. Our children in particular need to build up an ownership to the world and the neighborhood they are just starting to get to know. Children long to be part of their community – if we let them. As adults it is our duty to encourage and help them build up this ownership and arrange the neighborhood so that it is safe for children to navigate. This is to welcome children, as children get to know their community with their feet, not from their car seat.
KOMPAN cooperates with International Play Association to promote the child’s right to play worldwide
